Welcome, welcome! Not Just Curves has a new virtual home!
After asking what you wanted from this years BOM we set up a platform to house all of the Not Just Curves BOM 2023 material. Yep, that means the live demo videos will be available after recording until the end of the year. And all of the block patterns, printable templates and bonus material will be accessible from the same place! Good, huh?
Jenny Haynes is a Swedish exile in Sheffield whose award-winning quilts are strongly influenced by mid-century graphic design with bold and curvy shapes in strong colours.
In her teaching Jenny uses her previous experience in pattern
cutting, dressmaking and tailoring to create workshops full of techniques that are both exciting and useful. Jenny emboldens a new and curvy approach to quilt making.
Lucy Engels is an award winning quilter and visual artist based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Lucy creates unique, modern quilt patterns that coax out your inner artist by allowing you to put your own
personality and stamp on
what you’re making.
A creative coach and cheerleader to guide you towards creating a stunning piece of art that you can curl up under when it’s done.
This year our block of the month's colour story is influenced heavily by the Risograph. Over the past few months Lucy and Jenny have been taking much delight in playing with the colour possibilities of this process. With Lucy's background in printmaking she has put together a short presentation for the welcome pack explaining more about this printmaking technique and its influence on our colour choices. You are welcome to play along with these colour restrictions or branch out using your own favourite colourway.
We are all about a relaxed, you do you, sewing experience for everyone. But we also believe that it is fun to be challenged. In this block of the month you will be taught how to sew perfect and technically challenging curves by Jenny Haynes of Pappersaxsten. You will also get to grips with half rectangle triangles, half square triangles and piecing diamonds in the blocks by Lucy Engels. This is a machine based piecing series. But of course there are many ways that these blocks can be constructed and we will be discussing options throughout.
Each curve block can be made using the PSS custom acrylic templates or the paper templates included with this BOM. For those of you who decide only the acrylic templates will suffice (they are a great tool for ease and accuracy) please see the templates guide for each block/quilt size below.
Templates can be ordered from www.pappersaxsten.com. A 10% discount code and more information will be included in your welcome pack available from the 1st of February.
No. The payment plan is available during February and March. After the 31st of March this option will not be available. The payment plan option is an agreement to pay the amount of £87.75 over nine payments only.
